Personal Development: Manifestation

As of lately, I’ve been really conscious and aware of the many ways that the Universe has Blessed Me with all sorts of  Gifts of Prosperity and Abundance. A few months ago my vehicle was stolen making it a little challenging for my family and I to get around.  That was probably the worst thing that I’ve faced in a really long time and I pray that no one has to deal with that experience. I’m just going to say thank GOD for Prayer, UBER, and LYFT.  I am currently feeling absolutely Thankful,  Grateful, and Blessed in EVERY aspect of my life. I’m in Good Health, My Mental & Spiritual Houses are in Order,  My Finances are in Order, My Family is doing well, and I’ve been Blessed with what’s proving to be a Successful Home Based Business that’s providing me with an extra income.. Income that has helped me to get a new vehicle…. Amen & Thank You… Beautiful Universe!

Knowing and Believing in the Art of Manifestation,  Having a Positive Mindset, not giving up and giving into the Negative Feelings about my former situation kept me constantly seeking out Positivity. Allowing only Words of Wisdom, Hope, and Encouragement to fill my thoughts. So, that the words that I speak into the Universe would be ONLY words of Positivity.  I kept my self occupied and my mind focused by watching tons of YouTube videos, listening to podcasts, and by reading books.. mostly eBooks.

Recently, I’ve been inspired to buy more books. I have a cute little black bookshelf that currently serves as a home to 5 books, wine bottles, photos, knickknacks, candles, and shelving unit for my printer.  It needs some love and to serve it’s purpose :(.

So, Last week I decided to get the ball rolling and purchased 2 books that were recommended  in a video that I came across titled Proven Ways to Attract Maximum Wealth & Money into your Life by YouTuber (Jordan Cheyenne). This video is a part of her Boss Babe Series that I enjoy as she talks about budgeting, finance, credit tips, and more… There were a few videos in which she spoke about manifestation and kind of won over my heart.

I’ve studied the  Law of Attraction for many years and have learned how to manifest literally EVERYTHING in my life into existence. I’ve seen the Movie “The Secret” a few years ago but, wanted to have a hard copy for my library… So, I ordered it along  with You Are a Bad Ass At Making Money… by Jen Sincero as recommended by Ms. Jordan in her video.  So, far it’s a pretty good read. I love the authors humor and how she shares her past experiences and former negative thoughts about money, and how things have completely changed for her now,  as a 40 year old woman living her best life after completely changing her mindset on money and manifesting it along with the life that she’s meant to live. I can’t wait to read the entire book. I pretty much know all of the rules and principles of how manifestation works.. it’s just always intriguing to me to gain others perspectives and see their techniques.

Alongside, picking up these two books.. I’ve been keeping Gratitude Journals.. one electronically in my phone that I update every morning,  and  second one that I physically write into every evening. Having an Attitude of Gratitude is how we receive our Blessings.  Life is good & I’m simply working on becoming a Better Version of Myself Daily! I’ve written down a list of Books that I would like to read each month. A good chunk of them are Business Related.. mostly on building Wealth and Success Tips however, the rest are definitely Personal Development, Self-Help, and Spiritual. Can’t wait to share… Until next time.

My Personal Pursuit of Happiness

Wow… it’s been a minute since I’ve last blogged here. This post is inspired by a movie that is a constant reminder of how Blessed and Highly Favored I truly am and how GOD is constantly moving in my life.

I typically work from home on Mondays however, this past Wednesday. I wasn’t feeling very well so, I reached out to my leadership team to request to work from home. Usually, at some point throughout my work day I like to switch from listening to music to catching up on my Reality TV shows. But, there was something different about this Wednesday. I found myself watching a movie.

I chose to watch the Pursuit of Happyness featuring…

Will Smith and his son Jaden.

I fell in love with this movie when I first saw it back in 2006. It was so emotional, and inspirational,  yet spoke to me on a very personal level. For anyone who hasn’t seen this movie it’s inspired by a true story… The story of Chris Gardner, A homeless man that became a multi-millionaire stockbroker and motivational speaker. Check out his book.. it’s Amazing!

This Rags to Riches story like I said previously was so relatable,  I remember being Homeless with Four Babies living in New York’s Homeless Shelter System simply trying to make it. We were shuffled around daily to different Apartments in EVERY Borough, staying in some apartments for just a night and in others for up to a week. Some of the apartments were disgusting, there were Bugs and Rats.. not mice but, fully grown Rats. In order to receive the assistance that we were receiving I had to get a job and take classes through the State’s program. I was able to take classes and graduate with my G.E.D a few months prior to losing our home and moving to NY. Which made me very passionate about taking college courses in NY. I was able to accomplish everything required of me as far as securing employment and completing the classes that they required however, I am most proud of the fact that I was able to squeeze in Business Management College Courses around my already hectic schedule while being homeless. We did eventually get into a permanent Apartment in Brooklyn. I continued to work. My Ex-husband fell ill to the beginning stages of Multiple Sclerosis and was unable to work. Things again got very overwhelming however, at this time our marriage was falling apart and we needed to get back home to MI. We came home, his health was improving and were both able to get good jobs. Our children were all school age (no more day care.. thank GOD) and the future began to look bright. However, after a few years our marriage was over.

Life went on.. we co-parented our children who are all grown up now and doing well.

Looking back on my past I am genuinely grateful for the life lessons that I’ve had to overcome in order to become the woman that I am today.

It was a long hard journey to get here. There was a lot of negativity all around me people who wanted to see me fail and I must say because I serve an awesome GOD he has helped me to become a living, breathing, example of how persistence, dedication, and faith can help your overcome ANY obstacle or hardship.

I really just wanted to talk about how Powerful and Inspirational this movie was and how much of an impact it still has in my personal life. There was one scene that breaks me down into like real tears EVERYTIME that I see it. It was him sitting up on a Bathroom Floor in what I think was a Subway Station. He had tissue all over the floor so that he can sit up while his baby slept and someone is beating on the door and he’s crying. Aww man.. it was never that bad for us but, sooooo close.

And then there was the Basketball Scene and OMG.. This quote right here…

I loved this movie soooo much!!!

The Bible guides us to happiness through God’s Word! There are several scriptures but, this one is my personal favorite:

Psalm 37:4

4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

So what is the definition of the Pursuit of Happiness?

The pursuit of happiness is defined as a fundamental right mentioned in the Declaration of Independence to freely pursue joy and live life in a way that makes you happy, as long as you don’t do anything illegal or violate the rights of others.

I find myself daily reflecting on my past and having a genuine Attitude of Gratitude for the things that I’ve overcome. As I look back on all of these things they still inspire me to Do More. To Learn More. To Get Out and Be a Blessing To Someone Else. We never know what others are going through and have the potential to be a blessing that we never expected to be. I hope that simply sharing my story and connection to this story can inspire at least 1 person to DREAM BIG and NEVER Give Up on Pursuing a Life of Happiness!

Inspiration: The two most Influential Women that I’ve ever known.

This week’s blog post is inspired by two of the most influential women that I’ve had the pleasure of being blessed to have in my life.

My Grandma (Beverly Carol) in the Blue and My Great-Grandma (Gladys) in the Stripes.

I’m going to start with my Great-Grandma.. Ms. Gladys, First Lady.. Wife of a Pastor. She was a soft spoken, humble, spiritual, firm, and a very fashionable woman.

My Great-Grandma owned what I thought were hundreds of Dresses, Suits, Handbags, Shoes, Coats, Silk Scarves, and Gloves. Her wardrobe was crazy but, her Wig and Jewelry Collections were insane! As young girls she allowed us to play dress up during our visits. We dressed up in her Fancy Hats, Pearls, White Gloves, and Cocktail Rings and felt oh so Fabulous!

Not only did I fall in love with fashion from watching her but, she was our personal etiquette coach. We learned to say “please” and “thank you”, as well as how to address our elders, and how to smile and be polite to everyone we encounter. I’m forever grateful as those lessons are embedded within me and help me to continue to be the polite and super approachable woman that I am today.

Also, I learned that Ms. Gladys was a Lady Boss of her time. She was a Business Woman. My Great-Grandpa Reverend Spann, passed away in the 1980’s. She continued to successfully run his church behind the scenes, working in unison with the new Pastor. She was an active member and very hands on in the women’s ministry, and was very Charitable. My Great-Grandma was a Classy Lady that lived to be almost 100 years old and still managed to wake up at 4 am every morning, Eat healthy, Sip Dandelion Tea, tend to her Yard and Garden, Exercise, Pray and Read the Bible, Paint her Nails, Moisturize, Beat her face (with Designer Makeup), and get dressed with no help daily.. well into her 90’s. Not to mention she still went to church EVERY Sunday. #realboss #goals

Now.. ❤ My Best friend, My Grandma Beverly Carol had the most incredible sense of humor. She loved to laugh and had a heart of gold.

She was everyone’s go to if they needed anything!

I love that my Grandma was a single woman who was comfortable in her skin and loved life. She was Fabulous and the definition of Boujee on a Budget. She was trendy but, had a Signature Style. She held a special place in her heart for Denim (Jackets, Jeans, Hats, Handbags, Sandals, and Sneakers) worn with a bright colorful Blouse and matching Ankle Socks. She rocked a Mini Afro that she dyed Auburn in her late 50’s and painted her nails Fire Engine Red every week… She was the Queen of the Home Manicure.

I can remember her treating herself to Fancy home-cooked dinners often. Dinners which consisted of Lobster tail’s and Shrimps, Filet Mignon, Porterhouse Steaks, Lamb Chops, Baked Potatoes, with Butter, Sour Cream, Rosemary or Chives, Asparagus, and always enjoyed with a chilled Glass of Wine.

Yep, she was definitely Fancy!

I loved how smart she was.. Always reading a book. She loved music mostly Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, and Prince. She listened to almost every genre but, those were her favorites when I was a teen/young adult. She loved Action Movies and Thrillers and most of all loved a good family gathering.

My Grandma taught me to NEVER deprive myself of anything, always treat myself to whatever I want, and to work hard to get those things. She encouraged me to have compassion for others, be a good listener, exercise patience but, most of all laugh and enjoy myself.

As I’m growing older,  I’m beginning to remember all of those life lessons that I received from the important women in my life who served as role models for my sisters and I. Our influence came mostly from our Mom, Grandma’s, and Aunties. I have 2 sisters and we each have 1 daughter. I am the eldest of my sisters and my daughter is the eldest of the cousins. We are the role models for these young ladies and will influence them and create their memories that will hopefully be fond and will mold them into the women that they will become in the future.

Glowin Up At 40+

Glowin Up At 40+

This blog post is inspired by my Millennial Aged Children. They told me that my next blog post should be about Glowing Up and how women my age are experiencing the Best Glow Up’s.

Urban Dictionary has several definitions for the phrase “Glow Up” or “Glo Up” as the kids say it.  I personally leaned more towards the definition:   “A twist of the phrase “grow up”, referring to a person’s incredible transformation. This is usually based on increase of style and self-confidence“.

I chose to go with it not only because I feel like my children keep me youthful and on top of my game  but, because I understand where they’re coming from. I look at a lot of my favorite Celebrities and Inspirational Women who are around my age or slightly older and I see how they’ve transformed over the years. There’s something special about being 40+ in this day and age. We are 60’s and  70’s babies who in my opinion went through the best fashion era’s ever!  The 70’s were Groovy or Funky, with the Afro Puffs, Mini Skirts, Bell Bottoms, Platform Shoes, Music, and Movies. I will just throw out my Favorite Person from the 70’s and move on um Hello Foxy Brown.. aka Ms. Pamela Grier.  The 80’s were Edgy..  there was Bold Style, and Everything was Colorful and Fun. We had fashion influence from Madonna, Janet Jackson, Prince, Boy George, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, and the list goes on. The 90’s is where it was at for me personally, I loved EVERYTHING about the 90’s the Music, the Fashion, the TV Shows and Movies, it was hands down my favorite Decade!

The 90’s gave me life.. I mean my whole entire life! We had fashion influence from Tyra Banks, Brandy, Cher, Dion, and Tai from the movie Clueless (1995), Hilary from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, TLC, Aaliyah, Brittany Spears, Naomi Campbell, The Spice Girls, The Ladies of Sex and The City, the Ladies of 90210, and too many R& B Singers and Rappers to name.

To me the 90’s were Crazy, Sexy, and Cool. I was probably the Biggest Fan of the Hip Hop Girls Group TLC. No.. I was a Super Fan who dressed like them and even cut my hair off like T-Boz’s. 🙂 You couldn’t tell me that I wasn’t an honorary 4th group member.. lol

(Unfortunately, I don’t have any pics. If I find one.. I’ll definitely Post it.)

Anywhoo.. back to the point of the Post. We are talking about Glo Ups. The women that I’m showcasing below are women that are in the Public Eye and have had amazing transformations right in front of our eyes over the years. These ladies have definitely showed us amazing fashion, and how taking great care of your self can have a positive effect on your looks as you age.

Classic Examples of a few of my Absolute Faves are….

 Ms. Janet Jackson

 Mrs. Jada Pinkett Smith

Ms. Taraji P. Henson

My Girl Gabby.. Mrs. Gabrielle Union (Wade)

Ms. Oprah Winfrey

Tyra Banks

And last but, not least.. Mrs. Michelle Obama

These are just a few ladies that I’ve watched transform over the years. A lot of people like to think that when one has money it’s easy to transform into a beautiful person. Which is not true at all. Sure, in this day and age you can pay to look however, you want with the right amount of money and a good plastic surgeon but, I am attributing all of the beauty that we see above to women who have taken great care of themselves over the years and are confident in who they have become.

This is one of the things that I love most about being 40+.

I love the fact that I’ve lived through a few decades and that I’ve been able to experiment with style and see trends come and go and come back again. I am finally in a place to where I’m comfortable with the woman that I have become. I have my own Beauty Secrets and Regimens. I’m super conscious of my Health and Love my Body.  I have my own Personal Style (I only wear Black and I Love It)… Trends are a thing of the past for me at this age. It’s all about what’s comfortable, looks good on me, and makes me feel good in my skin. With age comes Confidence and Wisdom. I have defined who I am as a woman and I love everything about me!

Here’s to my Glo Up

10 Tips for getting over a break up

4_29_18I am currently coping with a break up and thought that I’d share a few tips that I’ve come across to help myself as well as anyone else who may be trying to overcome heartbreak.

1. Cut off all communication. This one is extremely hard for me as we’ve had this ongoing on again, off again relationship for almost 8 years. More on than off. This time it’s really over,  and although I know that he is not the right man for me  It’s extremely hard to not call, text, or accept communication from him. In the past we’ve never cut off communication and each time it led to some type of argument, or sympathy that would lead us to getting back together.. even though we hadn’t worked through our issues. During my research I’ve learned that this one tip is crucial when it comes to getting over your ex.

2. CRY. It’s ok to have a pity party after the break up. You have to get all of those emotions out in order to gain clarity so, that you can rid yourself of those feelings and focus on YOU and moving on with your life. Oprah3. Get Emotional Support. I don’t like sharing details of my personal life with anyone however, I have learned that it’s actually healthy to speak with someone whether it be a close friend, family member, or counselor to talk it out. A listening ear, empathy, and another perspective can help you see just why you need to get over the relationship.

4. Find Healthy Distractions. I’ve personally taken this time to figure out how to become a better me. I’ve focused my energy on exercising, reading, re-vamping my look, and getting out being social… ALONE.

Angela B Mascara5. Be Single. Use this time to 100% be selfish and all about you. This is the time to get dolled up and FLIRT your lil life away. This is a great harmless confidence booster!

6. Resist the urge to check up on your ex. This means no stalking their Social Media, doing Drive By’s or Pop Ups, and definitely no hanging out with their friends. I know that it seems crazy to cut off the friends especially when they may be really good friends to you but, reality is.. you need to go on a break with them also, to prevent having to continuously talk about your ex or potentially running into them right now while you’re trying to heal.

7. Remove all reminders. I’m sorry girl.. but, how can you move on when their pictures and belongings are all around you? You have to delete the pics or box them up and send them their belongings as it will only hurt to keep seeing them all of the time.

8. DO NOT COMMIT TO BEING FRIENDS RIGHT NOW. I’m not saying that you can’t be friends but, you don’t want things to be weird and akward. You need time to get them out of your system romantically before you can establish a healthy, genuine friendship with them.

9. Do not blame yourself. You were not in the relationship alone and you’re both broken up. You can’t beat yourself up wondering what if. Reality.. It wasn’t meant to be. #theirloss

10. If you’re deciding to date and move on… Take things very slow. Remember, that you’ve just gotten out of a relationship and need time to truly get over your ex. You want to be mentally ready before potentially getting into a new relationship too soon. Take your time, casually date, and simply enjoy yourself while you evaluate your potential suitors to determine if you’re ready to be in a serious relationship versus just playing the field.

Cheers to getting our grooves back!

4 Simple ways to start your self love journey

4_8_18 Blog Post

Self -Love is Absolutely NOT Selfish! I began my self love journey last year when I turned 40. I’ve learned that it is one of the ultimate keys to Happiness. There are several scientific backed studies that supports the importance of why you should love yourself. Self- Love and Acceptance will give you mental clarity, help you to stop procrastinating, lower your risk for developing depression and/or anxiety and gives you greater satisfaction with your life.

4 Simple Ways that have helped me and can potentially help you to get started on your Personal Journey are…

  1. A Self-Love/Gratitude Journal. I enjoy reflecting and documenting all of the good things that I experience daily.
  2. Daily Positive Affirmations. After leaving my Emotionally/Verbally abusive Husband several years ago. I had NO self-esteem. I needed confidence and had to learn to love myself again. I started by reading really powerful books, speaking with a Therapist who taught me all about Mantras and Positive Affirmations. I reclaimed my confidence by learning to appreciate myself. I used Positive Self-Talk and Affirmations. Everyday for the last 10 years and to this day I still look in the mirror and repeat.. I am Strong, I am Beautiful, I am Confident, I Love and Appreciate ME, I am Loving and Kind, I am Good Enough, and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

3. Schedule Dates with Yourself. Our lives can get pretty hectic sometimes hell, slightly overwhelming. It’s ok to take out your Planner and schedule some alone time. I like to treat myself at least twice a month to some much needed “ME TIME”. This is time in which I like to treat myself to a day out. I like to go Shopping, have Brunch, Get Pampered, and Site See.

4. Meditation. This is my all time favorite. I meditate twice a day. I wake up 20-30 minutes early and listen to the (Headspace) app on my phone. I repeat this again before bed and it feels absolutely amazing to get positive vibes going before starting and ending my day.

There are several things that you can do to start loving on you! These are a few ways that I show my self Love on the regular.

My Inspiration started a few years ago when I read this article: What Self-Love Means: 20+ Ways to Be Good to Yourself by Banu Sekendur (Tiny Buddha) (click here) to read. This article as well as several others in addition to a few really great books helped me to learn what Self – Love and Acceptance is and how to positively find happiness. I highly encourage you to learn more, do what you love, and take time out to find Joy and Happiness. Life is too short.. it time to start Living and Loving You!

Feel free to share some of the ways that you exercise Self-Love in the Comments.

My Top 6 Tips for Beautiful Glowing Skin this Spring

5 Tips for Beautiful Glowing Skin

Winter is finally over and it’s time to start getting Spring/Summer Ready! For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a pretty clear complexion and I like to think that it’s because of my family’s secret love affair with African Black Soap. It’s been a staple in our Beauty Regimens for as long as I can remember and hope that it will work for you.

Here are my tips:

  1. Drink Plenty of Water.

It’s been proven that drinking water not only contributes to great overall health but, works wonders for your skin.

2. Cleanse.

I like to cleanse from Top to Bottom with African Black Soap. Pure African Black Soap has several great Benefits but, works wonders when it comes to a great complexion as it fights Acne, Eczema, Psoriasis, and More. It’s Great as a Shampoo and Can be used on your face and Entire Body. Read More

3. Exfoliate.

Shea Moisture Coffee Scrub

I love Shea Moisture Products! You’ll probably grow very tired of hearing about my addiction to the products over time. If you use them then you totally understand why if not, then get ready to enhance your whole entire life. 🙂 I like to incorporate the Coconut Ground Coffee Scrub to my Spring/Summer care regimen every year as this not only sloughs off all of that dreaded Winter Dead Skin. But, this Scrub invigorates and gives you energy! I love the how smooth my skin feels and I always have a nice radiant glow.

4. Moisturize.

coconut oil

I choose to keep my skin moisturized with plain Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It’s ordorless and leaves your skin and hair really soft.

5. Dry Body Brush

dry body brush

I absolutely love to dry brush my skin 2-3 times per week during the warmer months as this not only exfoliates but, stimulates and increases circulation, rejuvenates skin cells, and improves skin texture by reducing the appearance of cellulite.

6. Hair, Nail, and Skin Supplements.

HSN Gummies

I recently added this to my regimen last year and it’s been working tremendously. I’ve noticed that my hair is stronger with less breakage, my nails grow pretty well and are strong, and I love that they are supplemental to my skincare regimen.

I typically buy all of my products online from or when I’m out and about I get them from Target or Walmart.  Everything is affordably priced and I hope that you try them and and have amazing results! Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
